Funeral Flowers for Agecroft Crematorium
Agecroft Crematorium is on Langley Road at Pendlebury in Salford, alongside Agecroft Cemetery in the Irwell valley. It is operated by Salford City Council.
Although it is Salford's crematorium, Agecroft serves the wider Manchester area too, families from Swinton, Pendlebury, Prestwich, Kersal and north-west Manchester all use it regularly, helped by its position close to the M60 and the A6.
Flowers come through the Langley Road gates ahead of almost every service held here. This page sets out how to get a tribute to the chapel on time, and where the flowers rest once the funeral is over.
Flower Policy
Anything a florist can build, a casket spray, a standing wreath, a name spelled out in chrysanthemums, can be brought to Agecroft. The one fixed point is that it must reach the chapel before the cortège does, and the florist agrees that window with the funeral director rather than with the family.
Once mourners file out, the flowers follow them. Staff move the tributes to a spot in the grounds where people can stand for a moment, look at each piece and see who sent it. A word with the funeral director beforehand is enough if the family would rather take the flowers home, or pass them to a local hospice.
Delivery Guidance
The order itself needs four things: whose funeral it is, the day, the start time, and the address written out, Agecroft Crematorium, Langley Road, Pendlebury, Salford. Cemetery and crematorium stand side by side here, so mark the order clearly for the crematorium chapel.
Salford, Swinton and Prestwich florists drive to Langley Road every week. If the service is today, ring one of them at opening time instead of trusting an online form. Quieter still is to leave the tribute with the funeral director, who carries it to Agecroft with the cortège.

Frequently asked questions
Who runs Agecroft Crematorium?
Salford City Council operates Agecroft Crematorium and the neighbouring Agecroft Cemetery on Langley Road in Pendlebury.
Does Agecroft serve Manchester as well as Salford?
Yes. Its position near the M60 means families from Prestwich, Kersal and north-west Manchester use it regularly alongside those from Salford itself.
When should flowers arrive at Agecroft?
Ahead of the cortège. The florist fixes a delivery slot with the venue once the order shows the right name, day and start time, so there is nothing further for the family to arrange.
What happens to the tributes afterwards?
They are set out in the grounds for mourners to see on their way out. Families who want them brought home, or given to a hospice, simply tell the funeral director before the day.
